Dr. Emily was exceptionally comfortable around ailing animals, and fans couldn’t get enough of her calm demeanor.

Let’s look at Dr. Emily Thomas’ background. She grew up in Warner Robins, Georgia. She enrolled in the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Science, where she attained a degree in Veterinary Medicine.
After graduating with an enviable degree in Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Emily got her first job with a private animal practice in South Carolina in the United States. In 2015, she got the opportunity to work in Weidman, Michigan, in Dr. Jan Pol’s clinic, The Pol Veterinary Services clinic.

As aforementioned, Dr. Emily joined the famous clinic in 2015, and this would be the same time she started being featured on the hit reality show The Incredible Dr. Pol.
Dr Emily was on the show for an incredible nine seasons. She made her on-screen debut in season six and left in season fifteen. Her departure from the show was a massive blow to fans worldwide.
If you have watched the show, you already know how hectic working at Pol Veterinary Services clinic can get. Owing to her incredible skills and workforce shortage at the clinic, Dr. Emily was mainly on-call.
It didn’t take long before Dr. Emily started experiencing burnout. Not only was she one of the most sought-after vets in Weidman, but she was also a mom of three children.
As a result of being overwhelmed and burnt out, she developed depression. Despite taking anti-depressants, she started having suicidal thoughts.
Dr. Emily Thomas needed to leave the clinic, which would almost certainly lead her to take her own life, and she needed to exit fast. Notwithstanding the fat cheque she got for working at the clinic and filming the show, we can’t blame her.
Money can never be prioritized over one’s own mental and physical health, and we laud Dr Emily for making the right choice. It’s not a secret that she needed to slow down and get off the runaway train she was on that would inevitably hit a brick wall.
Luckily for our beloved doctor, she got a less demanding job. Her new job involved treating small animals, and it also came with the benefit of not being on-call. Yes, she would make half of what she was getting with Nat Geo, but it didn’t matter.
